Always Paraphrase to Verify



Nowadays, people love to name things after something that is totally different.

For example, a child was named after a fruit. Does Apple ring a bell?

When you say penguin, Person A can think "Animal" whilst Person B can think of "Linux".

In order to practice effective listening, it is always important to paraphrase.

Exhibit A, 2 broke friends...

Friend A: B, tomorrow is your birthday.. What would you like?

Friend B: Ice Cream Sandwich

Friend A: Ice Cream Sandwich?

Friend B: Yes!

Friend A: Are you referring to the Food
                  or my FOOT?!!!! (The android)

Friend B: LOL! Just trying my luck!
