No matter how nice we try to put things, there is no denying that life is a battle. Everyday is a struggle.
However, with every struggle is a blessing. We are blessed to be alive and given the chance to make changes everyday.
People say, “live your life to the fullest”; I am here to do just that.
Hi, My name is Nadrah and this is my story.
I'm a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a cousin, a friend, a wife and a mother but most of all, I will always be a little girl at heart.
This blog is about my life and how I try to live it to the fullest while keeping it well balanced.

Something to Share: Sleep and Wake Up Early

People always make fun of me for sleeping early and starting my day early. Well, Boo-Yah people! Here is something to share:

For a clearer view on what is stated in the picture:
Early to bed and early to rise are habits taught by the Messenger pbuh.

Those who unnecessarily or habitually delay going to bed may not realise the harm to their mental, physical, spiritual & social well being.

Similarly those who get up very late each day, allowing laziness to overpower them would have their share of obstacles & negativities as a result.

Once this becomes a habit, it can lead
to the break up of marriages, feuds within the families, flaring of tempers, loss of income, failure at school or work, loss of concentration, a constant lethargic feeling and becoming an irritation to those we live with.

It can also cause deep unexplained discontentment, sadness or even put us into a depressive mode.

We MUST fight laziness to succeed!

Congrats Ely and Adha!!

My friend, Ely got married to Adha last weekend. Unfortunately, I was not able to make it as it was at the same night as Hubster's concert. Bestie Aaina kept us (the ones who were not able to make it) updated via whatsapp. The pictures were beautiful. She had a Moroccan themed wedding and everything was picture perfect! I'm very much in love with the decorations. Adha is Ely first boyfriend and their love story is almost like a fairy tale. I've never seen Ely so happy and in love. I pray for their happiness forever and always. May Allah SWT bless them with lots of love.

Here are some pictures taken from their official photographer page and from whatsapp (the ones Aaina shared):

KOTR 2012

Last year, i ran my first 10km marathon in the Adidas King Of The Road marathon. It was pretty much sad case for me because i entered alone. Upon completion, i had to find a spot, take a seat, and took my own picture of myself! This time around, i was back for KOTR and i wasn't alone. My husband along with some friends were there with me! Even with sore muscles from last Friday's weight training session, i ran! Well, it only hurts for awhile. After a certain point, you pretty much can't feel the sore. It is mostly the pain and tiredness for running for a long period.

At the starting point.
Right after getting my medal. Picture captured by Dol. Candid and Raw. But I love it! Even though I'm as flushed as can be, it was totally an awesome feeling.
Hubster and I
Sri feeling very satisfied with herself upon completing her first ever 10km marathon. Well Done!
Sri and Dol! The ever supportive couple!

Who says being small is a disadvantage?
We may be petite but we are pretty much capable. Plus, we completed a 10km marathon ok!

Tira looking ever cheerful as always upon completing the marathon!
Small is powerful!! By the way, Tira's showing off the medal and banana she received upon completing the run.

I had a huge hunch that Fay Hokulani would be around and she was! I tried looking for her so that I could get a picture with her. Unfortunately, I couldn't find her. Oh well... Maybe next time....

Lamb+Coffee= BIG NO NO!

Yesterday, we had a small team gathering at SABA Restaurant, Cyberjaya where the food is known to be "OhSuMM"!! We order a mixture of a few dishes so that we can try eat of them. My recommendation there would be the Chicken Kabsah and the Hanith Lamb. We were all very satisfied with the food but were very much unhappy with the cost of the beverages there.A cold Milo will cost you RM4. That is the same price as their flavored Malt drink. Also, their juices were pretty much awful. If you are planning to so there, the best choice would either be to order a glass of plain water/mineral water or one of those non-alcoholic flavored malt drinks.

Some pictures from the gathering:

Our Table
There were about 19 of us and that's the other table. Everyone were pretty much in their raya mood that our Japanese, Korean and Chinese friends were wearing Baju Kurung. Talk about Diversity.
Outside of the Restaurant
After our meal, we were pretty much sleepy and decided to go on our very first trip to the Starbucks Drive-Thru.
By the way, they only place the menu where you are going to make your order. So if you are planning to take your time, heck, don't ever go to the drive-thru. You'll be wasting other people's time waiting for you to make your decision.

My hot Caramel Machiatto (Venti).
You would think that I prolly had a great time considering I had such a great time considering that I stuffed my face and made my tummy very happy. Plus, I had Starbucks after. My tummy should be happy, right? Not! Sad to say, it got too overwhelmed and I learned that Lamb+Coffee is a wrong combination. (Least, it doesn't work for me). I had migraine and tummy ache after till this morning. Tsk tsk tsk!

Ironically, I could still eat chicken rice that night. Uptown's chicken rice is to die for! :p *Feeling a tad bit guilty for eating too much*. What? A girl's got to eat ok!

Anyway, moral of the day, I must never ever drink coffee after having lamb.

Gymboss

My husband and I are trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle by eating healthy and making our body stronger through various exercises. Interval training is something that we are trying to constantly challenge our bodies.

According to http://sportsmedicine.about.com, interval training helps to "increase in cardiovascular efficiency (the ability to deliver oxygen to the working muscles) as well as increased tolerance to the build-up of lactic acid. These changes result in improved performance, greater speed, and endurance."

In a much simpler manner, interval training helps to:
1. Increase Efficiency
2. Burn more fat
3. Build a healthier heart
4. Loose Fat and not Muscle (steady state cardio seems to encourage muscle loss)
5. Increase Metabolism (i so so so so SOOOO need this)

I tried a few routines but it was quite difficult to maintain my focus having to look at my watch constantly so check the time. Then, I found this interval timer called Gymboss online. To my surprise, it is pretty affordable. At a price of USD20, you'll get the Gymboss interval timer.

Functions?
  • 1 or 2 intervals - 2 seconds to 99 minutes
  • Repeat up to 99 times
  • Beep and/or Vibrate alarm
  • Alarm duration 1, 5, or 10 seconds
  • Stopwatch function
  • Secure Belt clip Compact Size (1 ¾ x 2 ¼ x ½ inches)
  • Water and shock resistant
Delivery only cost USD4 to Malaysia regardless of how many units you get. On the website, they state that delivery would take 1-2weeks depending on custom clearance.

So, Wednesday last week, I purchased 2 units (one for the hubster and one for me!). The service was very fast. A few hours later, I received an e-mail stating that they have shipped the parcel and I received the parcel yesterday! That's less than a week! Hubster and I are super excited. We can't wait to explore and use out Gymboss Interval Timer.
