No matter how nice we try to put things, there is no denying that life is a battle. Everyday is a struggle.
However, with every struggle is a blessing. We are blessed to be alive and given the chance to make changes everyday.
People say, “live your life to the fullest”; I am here to do just that.
Hi, My name is Nadrah and this is my story.
I'm a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a cousin, a friend, a wife and a mother but most of all, I will always be a little girl at heart.
This blog is about my life and how I try to live it to the fullest while keeping it well balanced.

Physically disabled or mentally retarded?

Special parking spots are prepared for the physically disabled's convenience. Sad to say, perfectly healthy people tend take advantage of this facility. Exhibit A, this BMW car below parked at the disabled parking. Then out comes a perfectly abled but rather snobbish looking father, perfectly abled mother and 3 very healthy kids. What's amazing is that there are lots of empty parking spots around. How selfish! Imagine if a disabled person come and had to park at the normal parking spot. He would prolly have difficulties getting out of his car with the walking support or the wheelchair. Now this is sad. Really sad. No matter how rich or posh your car is, it is not an excuse to take advantage of the facilities for the disabled. Makes us wonder sometimes what goes on in these people's head. Before you park at a disabled parking, ask yourself, "is the parking for the physically disabled or mentally retarded?". If you are not physically disabled, i'm sure you are not mentally retarded. Do yourself a favor and be a good samaritan. It is time to act wisely and not be selfish.

Birthday celebration with Sri and Tira

Tira and Sri came over after work for a mini belated celebration. Initially, they planned to take me to Paddingtom's house of Pancakes at the curve but unfortunately i wasn't feeling well. Been having a terrible migraine and vomitting the whole evening. They brought blueberry yoghurt cake and we ordered dominos. Tira got me a very beautiful cheongsam from china. Sri, tira and Aaina bought me Katy Perry Tee and Sportsbra as my birthday presents! Woot woot! Thank you ladies! You girls rock my world!

Should I or Shouldn't I?

Someone is going to United Kingdom soon and I'm in a dilemma. Not because I'm going to miss the person (Heck, the person is going to have the best time is his/her life, why would I sulk?), but because I'm torn on whether to ask the person to help me buy the Salvatore Ferragamo bag I wanted Duty-Free. Do you remember my previous post on the bag I wanted, Wishlist: Ferragamo Vara Nude Patent Clutch ? Well, they no longer have it in nude but they have it in black! So, now I'm calculating my cash to see whether I have sufficient fund to splurge.

Let me just think it over for about a week before making my decision.

New Balance Awesomeness!!!

I'm very proud of my RM50 Power sports shoe that I bought for Terry Fox Run 2010. That pair of shoes brought me to the distance way further as compared to my Nike shoes (which was stolen from my back house). I used it marathons after marathons, walks after walks and hike after hike up the hill at the back of my housing area. I would say that I've gone through the transition from a couch potato to a slightly fitter person with that very pair of shoes that I bought from Bata. However, I'm slowly accepting the idea that the shoe is wearing out and it's time to change when I spent most of the time trying not to slip during the Zumba Party.. Considering that I run a lot nowadays(even if I don't join marathons, I run at the park behind my house or at the gym) and plan to run at least 3 miles once a week (following the footsteps of Jilian Michael's and Jennifer Aniston who does it almost everyday), I was advised to get either New Balance or Asics. So, I paid a visit to the New Balance outlet at One Utama. I was checking out the shoes there and was eyeing on the New Balance 890 for light weight and high performance which cost RM369. Darn! That really is going to burn a hole in my wallet. Lucky me, I'm small sized that the salesgirl suggested that I try the kids version which was New Balance 790. It's basically designed for people with children's weight. I'm not that heavy so it doesn't pose as a problem for me. The best part is that the pair cost RM179 (RM190 cheaper). See? Being petite has it's perks! :p I tried on for a short workout session just now and the only thing I felt was the awesomeness comfort at my feet. I'm totally loving it!

Ron Pope's Perfect for Me

You sit in the bathroom and you paint your toes
I sit on the bed right now and I sing you a song
It's not always easy, but somehow our love stays strong
If I can make you happy, then this is where I belong

(Chorus)
And I'd just like to say
I thank God that you're here with me
And I know you too well to say that you're perfect
But you'll see, oh my sweet love, you're perfect for me

I know all you're secrets, and you know all of mine
You're always here to hold me up when I'm losing my mind
I wish that I was stronger so that I had more to give
I'll share everything I have and we'll find a way to live

Chorus

Even after all this time, nothing else I ever find
In this whole wide world can shake me like you do
Its true that something so sublime that there aren't words yet to describe
The beauty of this life I've made with you

And I'd just liek to say
I thank God that you're here with me
And I know you too well to say you're perfect
But you'll see oh my sweet love you're perfect for me
And I know you too well to say you're perfect
But you'll see of my sweet love you're perfect
Oh my love I swear you're perfect
Yes I promise, you're perfect for me

Fiza too got excited but had to bail at the very last minute due to work responsibilities. So, I went there with Hana instead.

The Zumba Party started at 10.30 am with 45 minutes of Zumba toning. We were each given 2 pieces of 1-pound toning stick. These sticks are very much like maracas. They may seem light at first but after zumba-ing 15 minutes with it, you can feel your muscles at your arm working really hard. The instructor said the toning is best done first before the cardio fitness as the toning workout will take place when you have the most energy (better posture too). After 45 minutes, the party was continued with Zumba fitness. Latin fusion songs like Shake Senora (which instantly reminded me of beetlejuice) were used for the workout. In half an hour, I was already drenched in sweat but the instructor, crowd and the beat of the songs kept me highly motivated to keep going. I would conclude that it is a very interesting workout and I had a lot of fun. If you are looking for a fun workout, I would suggest Zumba and Sole to Soul has classes on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. They will most prolly open up more classes in February. My sister and I will most prolly be joining it sometime in or after February. :P

Picture by Emerson Soo on Sole to Soul Facebook Page with all of the high spirited people who had lots of fun breaking sweat with Zumba.
Can you find me in the picture? Too bad Hana was hiding so far that the back that she wasn't in the picture.
After the party, a girl approached me saying that I look familiar. One thing about me is that I really have a poor memory. I couldn't recall the girl at all. She introduced herself as Edura and remembered my name starting with the letter "N". "Nadira", she said. Gulp! That's very close to Nadrah. I felt so guilty for not knowing who she was. She explained that she might have known me through "Omar Baharum" and she was away for 10 years. I tried really hard to recall who she was and have a feeling that she's one of my nephew, Hazim's friend from Hartamas whom I befriended during my days going for tuition at Bukit Damansara.

Anyway, that's all for my entry on the Zumba Party. I had so much fun and I'm looking forward to join the class with my sister soon. You should too! :p

Lunch today: Prosperity Burger!

Belated Birthday Dinner at Victoria Station, Bukit Damansara

Last Tuesday, Ag took me out for a belated birthday treat at Victoria Station. Initially, he wanted to take me to the outlet in PeeJay but in the end, we went to the nearest outlet as the weather delayed our plan for 1hour. (It was raining cats and dogs that he had to wait for it to calm down). We were that optimistic about the location since our previous visit disappointed us. They were out of ribs that we settled for lamb. Ag got his favorite shrimp cocktail and enjoyed his grilled lamb. I got my wild mushroom soup but it took a very long time for my honey mustard lamb. We then found out that they forgot my order. Sigh! But everything was cool. They got the food ready in a few minutes.  It was our first date as an engaged couple and nothing can take the bliss away. :)

Shu Uemura Makeover

Some would spend hundreds on make up artist. The rate actually depends on the artist's experience. Honestly, to me it's a waste if i spend so much to get my make up done and wash hundreds off my face just like that after an event. So, what did I do instead? I went to Shu Uemura and ask what is the minimum purchase to get a free makeover. With a minimum purchase of RM300, you not only get a FREE makeover, you'll also get FREE eyebrow trimming, smokey eyes & eyelash workshop and skincare basics workshop! I went to the Shu Uemura at One Utama and got Joanne to do my makeup for me. I requested for Kim Kardashian's wedding look as it was simple yet classy and she did a great job! Thank you, Joanne!
