No matter how nice we try to put things, there is no denying that life is a battle. Everyday is a struggle.
However, with every struggle is a blessing. We are blessed to be alive and given the chance to make changes everyday.
People say, “live your life to the fullest”; I am here to do just that.
Hi, My name is Nadrah and this is my story.
I'm a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a cousin, a friend, a wife and a mother but most of all, I will always be a little girl at heart.
This blog is about my life and how I try to live it to the fullest while keeping it well balanced.

Fay Hokulani

I've always had a problem with my self-esteem. I most oftenly envy people like Vivy Sofinas a.k.a. Proudduck for looking as good as she does without having to battle with her weight. Eventho we always see her complain about putting on weight, we barely see her flaunting a chubby look. She may be a figure to look up to with her ability in business and fashion sense but for physical wise, I wouldn't really take her as an inspiration. She's gifted with all the good looks, petite frame and slim face. Now, when Adrian, my colleague, told me about Fay Hokulani, I was like asking who she is. All I know is that she is a radio deejay. Adrian told me to check out her pictures on Google and honestly, I have to agree that she looks awesome. I thought that she's just another one of those girls who is gifted just like Vivy but to my surprise, she's not.

After reading her blog, I found out that she too used to be chubby. Her post on her highest and lowest weight just inspires me. She lost so much weight and looked as good as she does not. She actually worked hard to get where she is. Most importantly, it is not about being thin, what matters is being fit, healthy and strong.

So really girls, if you are chubby, it is not impossible for you to lose weight. I'm pretty much motivated to go through this transformation and signed up for the HP Shape UP challenged organized by my company. My plans may have delayed a little and had a huge bump due to the EID Mubarak celebration but I'm glad to say that I am still highly motivated and have slowly started my routine. I've started hitting the gym last Saturday and went for a short morning run with hubster yesterday morning.

Changing to a healthier lifestyle is more like getting rid of a bad habit. You may be determined at first, after awhile, the possibility of falling out is still there. Knowing how much I need the motivation to keep going, my ever supportive husband got me a sports bra that looks almost like the one Fay's wearing in the picture above and a cute t-shirt from Adidas. If you need motivation to be fit, fitness advice and even healthy recipes, you should read Fay Hokulani's blog at http://www.withlovefay.com.
Treat from my ever supportive husbter!

My friend went back to his hometown and got me.....

My colleague, Rangga is from Indonesia. So, for the EID Mubarak celebration, he went back to Jakarta with his family. Knowing how much I love soy sauce, he got me the ever famous 'Kicap Bango'! Not available in Malaysia ok! Thank you Rangga!! Selamat Hari Raya! Maaf Zahir Batin!!!!! Semoga diberkati dan murah rezeki ekk!

Selamat Hari Raya!!!

Selamat Hari Raya!!!
Happy EID Mubarak Everyone!

Firstly, I would like to apologize for all the wrongdoings I've done.  Over the past year, I went through a lot of things that made me wiser (I hope). There were some bad experience and some were good. Like I once said previously, it is not about what mistakes we made but more of what we gain from the mistakes. Along the way (as we live life as we call it), we make mistakes in order to learn valuable lesson, people also get hurt. My sincerest apology. However, if you do not mind, I do not wish to dwell on it for so long and wish to move on. I refused to be stuck in the same position for so long. There are so many lessons to learn and experience to gain in this life. :) Maaf Zahir Batin ek......

 Last year, I was single (went through a rough patch with hubster before realizing that we pretty much can't live without each other and got married), I was off to Cameron Highlands by the second day and have a mini getaway with family and close friends. It has always been like that for me. My mom will be busy with food orders that our raya is normally just that raya morning when we will wait for my father's return from his prayers, ask for forgiveness, took family photos and visit my aunt's place in Shah Alam before heading back home for afternoon nap. The next day, we were off for a 3D2N getaway.
A picture of me last year with my 2 favorite nieces cousins. I was pretty thin then and looked pretty awesome, right? Ok, maybe not. :P

This year, however, I'm married to the one who is meant to be my leader and companion in the present and hereafter. Things are very much different as we go through the challenges of celebrating our first Raya together trying to juggle for families(his and mine)' needs. His family has always been very festive when it comes to EID Mubarak celebration so I made way for his family's traditions.

Our Raya started with a small prayer get together at his late grandmother's place in Kg Baru where his uncle gave a short Tazkirah about the blessings of ramadhan and Syawal (the month when we celebrate EID mubarak). Then he was off for his prayers. I was always taught that we started asking for forgiveness after the prayers but it is not the same for his family. They start as early as they woke up. FIL told me that they even once started their Raya at 5.30 in the morning. That's something for us to adjust. About 9 something, after prayers, we headed back to my parents' house in Taman Tun Dr Ismail where we had another meal.  Shortly after, we had to make a move to husband's house before heading to YongPeng. Now, here's where it all started. To summarize it:

First Day: Tmn Tun->Kg Baru->Tmn Tun->Kelana Jaya->YongPeng->Johor Bahru->YongPeng.
Second Day: YongPeng->Labis->YongPeng->Kelana Jaya->Ulu Klang->Kelana Jaya
Third Day: ..... urm.. urm...this is so hard to map out but basically we visited 11 houses in 12 hours..

Yes, you read it right. 11 HOUSES!!!!! What I learn from them is that it is rude to tell the host how many houses we went to before theirs and we have to eat at each and every one of the house as if it is the first house we visit. Imagine how bloated I was by the end of the day. By that night, we were all totally flat out and couldn't eat anything else. LOL!

I have to admit that I do feel sad that I didn't get to spend much time with my family during the first day of Raya (that's the most important part of Raya for my family). My husband assured me that this is just a trial error period. We will learn from our mistakes and hope for a better celebration next year. Looking back through the whole experience, there is so much to be thankful for and I feel blessed.

Selamat Hari Raya!!! From Hubster's thumbs up, me and TAMA. A picture taken before our trip to Yong Peng.Yerp! I was flaunting a slightly more prosperous look.. ahaks! In other words, I gained a lot of weight.

Forever After?

I’ve been married for slightly over a month and yesterday, we celebrated our 4th anniversary together. However, our celebration was not like our usual dine out and spend quality time together this year. It was more into a family sort of thing where we broke our fast at home with family and went out to shop for Raya clothes with in laws. With our hectic schedule and time taken to satisfy both families (in law’s and own’s) plus a little side business to get extra income and hubster’s commitment to his dance crew, Sole to Soul Dance Company, we barely have time to do anything else. So, last night was our only chance to go out. How’s life being married would pretty much be the first question everyone will ask. No, I’m not going to write a post about my husband being a sweet talking loving kind of guy nor will I write any relationship advice (especially since I’ve only been married for 1 month and 11 days). As much as a girl would like a man to woo her all the time, my husband is not a sweet talker with me. I won’t be lavished with “I miss you”s, nor “You’re in my dreams” (clearly because Pixie Lott and Cheryl Tweedy reign his heart! hmph!) nor “I can’t live without you”s (he can't live without dancing and football.. Haha!!!). Instead, he is a joker who pretty much makes me laugh everyday. I personally think that is a good quality considering that I think too much and need to lighten up a little (OK, well a lot!). When I’m down, he will always do something funny or remind me that I’m his wife, which is why I’m special (and vice versa too). I can’t deny that there are challenges adjusting to married life. What’s important is that even if you think you are alone, God (In my case, Allah SWT) is always there for you whenever and wherever you are. Everyday I wake up feeling blessed with all the love that I get; and pray for strength, patience, prosperity and most importantly, our marriage to last forever after and filled with lots of love. :)

My husband the Mean Joker

I've been going through Fay Hokulani's site and admire her figure. I expressed my desire to look as good to my friend, Adrian and his response was that it is pretty much impossible for me as if we look at Asians, the hot ones are normally tall. So, I told my husband about it. This was his response.... Ezry: xpe compared to anis n nayla u tinggi Sigh!!! Bertuah punya suami!
