No matter how nice we try to put things, there is no denying that life is a battle. Everyday is a struggle.
However, with every struggle is a blessing. We are blessed to be alive and given the chance to make changes everyday.
People say, “live your life to the fullest”; I am here to do just that.
Hi, My name is Nadrah and this is my story.
I'm a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a cousin, a friend, a wife and a mother but most of all, I will always be a little girl at heart.
This blog is about my life and how I try to live it to the fullest while keeping it well balanced.

Should you splurge on a Corset?

Post pregnancy, I was approached by a few people to invest on corsets (shapewear) which is believed to help me get back in shape as well as help with my physical well-being (posture, blood flow). Phrases like FIR were introduced to me. I was told that these corsets will also help increase my metabolic rate. Now these corsets don't come cheap. They cost for an estimation from RM1000-RM5000. Honestly, I don't believe that anything comes easy and if something comes easy, it will go easily too. Determined to get back in shape, I started browsing Kevin Zahri's website and stumbled across this hot topic on corset.

This was his response...

Kevin Zahri says: Technically, mana2 korset bukanlah bakar lemak tapi ia “displaces” lemak. But again, probably taklah comfortable untuk dipakai for jangka masa berpanjangan.

an.

Well, he does have a point there. How can the corset be about health when it does not stretch and work your muscles nor does it give any cardiovascular benefits?

Of course there was a defensive individual whom I believe is into the Premium Beautiful business who tried to justify that the corset is 70% for healthy and 30% for beauty.

That justification was also shot down by this blog post: http://aididmuaddib.blogspot.com/2011/05/doctor-bloodyfool-dungu-piang-macam.html

I have to admit, being vain, I would invest on a few shapewear to give the illusion of a better figure as compared to my unflattering post pregnancy figure. The most I'll go is to spend a few hundreds on a shapewear. Wacoal, spanx are comfortable and would last for years but they sure are expensive. Sure, I may still be in my 100 days confinement period when I can't exercise just yet but I'm not going to just on straight to something just to lose weight fast and easy. Looking back, thank god I did not buy any of those corset. LoL!

Most Glam Most Stylish 2013

If you have read my earlier post entitled ‘Mr Perfect 10?’, you would have known that Hubster was made one of Glam’s Most Stylish Men of 2013. He was then invited to Glam’s Most Glam Most Stylish Award night at Aloft Kuala Lumpur. Being such a sweetheart, he asked them whether he could bring a Plus 1 so that he can take me along. And being such a supportive wife *flips hair*, I was there to accompany him. Haha! Owh well, I deserve some credits ok. After all, behind every great man is an even greater woman. It was my first time going to such an event that I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pretty excited to dress up for the event. Unfortunately, my post pregnancy body made it pretty difficult for me to rock any outfit. Most of the outfit shows how out of shape I am. In the end, I decided to wear a non-figure-flattering red dress from Dorothy Perkins, my mom’s gold evening bag and my Stuart Weitzman shoes.

Glam's Most Glam + Most Stylish 2013

Hubster has always been a very punctual person. He was very determined to arrive there in time. I on the other hand, tried to delay him. “We’re in Malaysia, plus it’s a fashion event. All the more reason to be fashionably late”, I told him. He then replied me, “No, we are not going to be late because I’m not a celebrity”. Ok, fine. I tried my best to get ready as soon as I could. Being a mom, there’s a lot to adjust. That day would be the first time I left my baby for more than 10 hours. Most of my time spent calling to check how Zara was doing. Also, that would be the first time I left Zara at night when she is so used to me being around when it’s dark. It was also a Friday night. With the new contract expansion, it was impossible for me to leave much earlier. After going through the traffic, feeling fatigue and nervous, I managed to get ready in time and we arrived at 8pm sharp.

As much as I guessed, the event did start late. The guest arrived much later. After all, what’s a fashion event without being fashionably late? People there were very much fashion forward and I could tell that Malaysians may not be so affected by the downfall of the economy. With one glance, I would tell that they were wearing the latest designer fashion trends. I spotted more than 2 person wearing the Lego Chanel clutch! From Valentino studded shoes to metallic silver Dior Bag, it was as if they just came out from a fashion magazine or it was like we were absorbed in a magazine. Gosh! I was pretty much at awe but tried my best to remain cool when truth is, I was checking out what they were wearing going “OMG! That’s in my wishlist!” or “OMG! That’s such a pretty pair of shoes!”. Secretly, I was wishing that I could score those item as I grinned at Hubster hoping that he’ll get me something new real soon. LOL! I felt a little alienated surrounded by all these socialites. I recognized a few high profile faces such as Mia (she was Hana’s friend), the Mimpikita girls (made a few clothes with them but I doubt Nurul remembers me), Nora Khalid (she’s actually a family friend but I’m more familiar with her sister, Kak Emma and brother, Azlan), Adila Long (I follow her on Instagram-Love Love Love her songket clutch) and the list goes on. Celebrities like Marsha Milan, Amy Search, Umie Aida (my god! She has the tiniest waist and looks amazingly hot!) and Andeng were there too.

Owh, Did I tell you? Amy Search performed Isabella LivE! I heard Isabella LIVE! OMG OMG OMG!

There were times when I felt as if I was a polar bear stuck in a big city. Then I met 2 familiar faces, Arene and Kak Fara. I’m always a little intimidated when I meet Kak Fara. It is more like a Star Struck kinda thing. I’ve always idolized her ever since I was small. She’s like super cool with her cool outfits, listened to cool songs, went to concerts in Singapore, she has a pretty face, warm personality and cool achievements. My brains sometime go blank when I see her. Every time we meet, I had to remind myself that “hey! She’s a family friend and we’ve known each other since I was only 4 years old”. Only after that I can talk to her like normal. LOL! Anyway, she looked incredibly gorgeous that night. Mother of 1, she amazed me with the ability to look presentable always.

Being ordinary from an average background, both Hubster and I did what ordinary people do at any event, which is checking out the food. We were pretty disappointed that there were only finger foods and nasi lemak in a small pack. No wonder those in the fashion line were able to maintain such a tiny figure even after going to so many events. The portions served were very small. Even Bront Palarae agreed with us. He told Hubster “Makanan mcm bukan makanan pon” when they were up on stage. LOL! Btw, I must add that Bront Palarae looked dashing that night! *Jawdropped* -I’m married with a child-I’m married with a child- I’m married with a child. Hahahahahah!!!!! Don’t worry sayang, you are still my Mr Perfect 10!

It is always great to see a familiar face in a totally new environment but it is even better when that someone can make you feel right at home. I was lucky Arene was around. Knowing that we didn’t know anyone else there, she asked me to hang with her when Hubster was busy on stage and what not. Thank you so much Arene! It was very sweet of you! FYI, Arene is one of the designers of Innaired. She makes the utmost pretty clothes that will make you feel like a princess! If you are looking for something to wear for a special occasion, head to their office in Damas. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Us with Arene. Aizat, you still belom jumpe my baby.
Going to events like these is one of my many attempts to ensure that my life will not be to consumed by my role as a mother. Of course, being a mother is my number 1 priority but I do not want to lose myself (personality and interest) just because I am not a mother. There’s always a first time for everything, I’m glad that I get to share my first experience to an event like this with Hubster and to make it even more memorable, it was in celebration of Hubster being one of the most stylish.

After an eventful night, the first thing hubster did when he reached home was play with this little princess. Looking at this scene just melts my heart. It's just like falling in love all over again. :)

Something to Share

A misfortune happened to this lady in ICU that i would like to share so that we take a lesson from it.

27years old, booked in private center, 1st pregnancy, went in labor and vacuum x 3 failed hence referred to govt sector for caesarian section (that private sector does not have a operation theatre)

Reached here, baby heart was undetectable and patient was bleeding tremendously, unable to control tht to save her is to hysterec.

She lost her baby and lost her uterus. Crunched my heart and cried quietly.

Lesson: please go to a proper private center if u want to go under private and if u are financially unkept, please come to government hospital. Inalillah to these couple for the misfortune. Atleast both has a baby waiting for them in heaven.

Above is the recent status update by my cousin who is currently doing her houseman ship in a local government hospital. It is a very tragic story. If you do decide on going to a private hospital, please ensure that they have all the up to date fully up and running equipments. Honestly, when it comes to pregnancy and children, I would advice to go for the best you can afford. There is no such thing as opting for something cheaper like going to a cheaper private hospital. There is no point to saving money. Life is far more important than that. If you can't afford it, just opt for government hospital.

Mr Perfect 10?

Yerp! That's my husband!
I recently heard that there is an upcoming movie called "Suamiku Mr Perfect 10". Well, honestly, I have absolutely no idea what the movie is about but I know a number of things about Mr Perfect 10. Ok, fine, maybe not perfect. Imperfection makes someone perfect. An all-rounder is more like it.

Yes, this post is about my hubster is who recently Glam's Top 10 Most stylish men of 2013.

Style-wise
When my mom heard about my husband chosen to be one of the Top 10, she was pretty much shocked. "But he is always in his football jersey?" she said. LoL! Well, that's my husband alright. Always in his precious jerseys. They are not ordinary actually. Each jersey he buys has something special about it. Let it be the badges and the name of the player which he carefully picked based on the season's play. However, hubster does clean up well in suits and his dance attire. After all, if you watch Style Star on E!, the celebrities they cover aren't exactly always fashionable. If it was for the Most Fashionable men, I'm sure Jovian Mandagie would be awarded.

I remembered someone posted something about a cool dad. Honestly, I think my husband is one cool dad. LOL! Sure, they say that self-praise is no praise at all, but I'm not praising myself.

  • Family Oriented
  • An Engineer (with a stable active income)
  • Dancer, Choreographer and Dance Instructor (Passive income while Passionately driven)
  • Loving Husband (I am well taken care off.. I'm sure my expanding cheeks proves it all)
  • A father (hands on I must add! He bathes our daughter even when she was only slightly a week old)
  • A caring friend
  • Jovial and cool personality
  • Sporty lean figure to complete his figure presentation
  • with the list of things he covers, he still manages to complete a daily routine of reciting prayers to aour baby before she goes of to bed
  • and the list goes on...
Having said that,  it does seem like I'm married to a Mr Perfect 10. Sure, he does have all those flaws such as acne and dry scalp but in all he does seem whole. LOL! Ok-ok, it's ok if you don't think he's perfect cause what's important is that he is perfect to me. :)

Love you lots and lots!!! Muachs!

Although he may have cleaned up well in the magazine but this picture here show how perfect he is to me.
