Nestle organized a World Walking day event for charity. For each kilometer a participant walk, RM1 will be donated to charity. The registration is completely free. However, there is only manual registration. Initially, I signed up for Tira, Farah and my sister to join. Unfortunately, at the very last minute, my sister had to work and Sri took over her place. The flag off time was scheduled at 8am but we were all supposed to be there earlier to get the t-shirt. When i say early, it only meant that we would have to wake up much earlier. Both Tira and Farah slept at my place just in case Farah needed an extra push to wake up. The funny thing was, we still didn't wake up in time because mistakenly set the alarm to wake us up at 4.30 pm instead of am. Even Sri (who we or rather I didn't have faith to wake up early) woke up in time and whatsapp both Tira and I! Gasp! Luckily there is such thing as malaysian time. We managed to get there in time and enjoyed the refreshing morning walk.
We were given samples to try. Samples from nestle only means one thing and that is "FREE FOOD!". There where about 4 booths there (cheerios, milo, nesvita and maggi). Ironicly, out of all the samples, manggi has the longest queue and is the least healthy.
Here are some pictures:

The queue for Maggi was suprisingly long after a healthy walk.
Last Friday, my colleagues and I decided to try this new cafe called "Tokiokafe" that is suppossingly to be the new revamped version of "The Walk". The environment gave a little upper end feeling and each of us were very excited when we saw the dessert (thinking that the food there will be good). Sad to say, our food was pretty much tasteless. We had to add pepper and what not for it to be edible. Owh, one more important thing to consider, what sort of cafe that sells pasta does not have chilli flakes and a bottle of parmesan cheese for the customers?!! The food quality did not match the price we paid. We also tried the dessert. We concluded that the japanese cheese cake was overrated but the macadamia cheese taste quite good. Nonetheless, our overall experience was disappointing. It was our first trip there and will definitely be our last.
Entitlements: Runner’s tee, finisher medal, e-certificate, prizes for top and not-so-top finishers, a whole lotta fun
What's cool about this event is that they divide you according to your tribe. There are 4 tribes (Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. Just like the school days ehh?). Before registering, you will need to take a short quiz to determine which tribe you're in and you will run with your tribe. What a way to make friends, ehh?
I took the quiz and guess what?
Im a WhateverFool!
Behold....
You are... the WhateverFool!
You are undefined. BEYOND labels. You go against the norm. You're different. People have a hard time figuring you out. You don't really care. You're neutral. You're... well, WHATEVER.
A boy. A girl. A ladyboy. A cat. A mother of two. A vegetarian. A 60 year old grandfather. A ninja. A mamak that makes Roti Canai. A Blondie. A rebel. A chair. A whale. You are whatever you make yourself to be. You're a chameleon. Because there's beauty in ambiguity.
WE COULDN'T CARE LESS WHAT YOU ARE. YOU ARE AWESOME. ALL HAIL... The WhateverFool!
Unfortunately, I might not be able to make it as it is the morning after an event I'll be attending.
My favorite awesome twosome are going to be parents soon! I remembered looking at a 6 months preggers Dayana playing laser tag. How cool is that? Dayana is a wonderwoman. Being pregnant and a manager at work, she still maintained her adventurous self. However, she just had to back out from all the marathons she signed up for. Nonetheless, im sure the both of them will be great parents and Rahim's exitement was extremely priceless.
In celebration for Rahim and Dayana's departure to parenthood, we organized a small gathering at Bistro 42, Bangsar Village 2 last Saturday on the 12th of November 2011. As a gift, 8 of our close friends (tira, sri, dol, akasha, najib, nafi, farah and joe bunga) shared a present. We bought them this turtle bouncer from Babyland. It was very difficult to find this particular bouncer. I have to go on a scavenger hunt over the net to find it. Luckily there's Babyland! Not only they delivered it promptly, they also gave us the upgraded version with melody function! How cool is that! They are the perfect place to find gifts for babies and really thank them for giving us the latest model at the same price as the old one.
Anyway, here are some pictures:

The girls before my arrival. I came in late as I was stuck at another wedding.
A drop in the ocean, A change in the weather, I was praying that you and me might end up together. It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert, But I'm holding you closer than most, 'Cause you are my heaven.
I don't wanna waste the weekend, If you don't love me, pretend A few more hours, then it's time to go. And as my train rolls down the East coast, I wonder how you keep warm. It's too late to cry, too broken to move on.
Still I can't let you be, Most nights I hardly sleep. Don't take what you don't need, from me.

A charity run to collect fund for the Cancer Research Foundation
Honestly, the management of the event needs more improvement. The route is quite cool. However, the timing and management is very poor. It should have started earlier before the sun is up. They needed everyone to gather in the field. However, due to the hot weather condition, people chose to gather at the car park where the shade was instead. The amount of people participating in the event grew and it was great to have so much support in battling cancer. A larger crowd would mean more management needed. They should release the participants via categories such as runners, wheelers and joggers. So, in my opinion, the event needs improvement in 2 areas and that the start time and categorization. Other than that, I'ld say the event was indeed successful. It was great seeing people of all shapes, age and sizes to support a charity run like this. I especially loved the kids in bicycles. :p
